Recycle planet is a startup that was setup to provide comprehensive management of solid waste as part of an innovative system of collection and recovery, focused on controlled traceability from the manufacturer to the end user. We implement circular economy concepts through our mobile application, this tool implements the use of Reverse Logistics to track the life cycle of all waste through the supply chain, particular waste that could be reinstated into the production chain with focus on end-of-life treatment as an alternative for landfilling, this process focuses on cost effective flow of raw materials for the purpose of recapturing value, proper disposal and product recovery through recycling and remanufacturing of elements that will come from products at the end of their useful life.

the Life Cycle Assessment App – Available on smart phone and USSD
will be an online platform that will connect manufactures, distributors, retailers, aggregators and consumers of the various types of waste, this platform will study the Life cycle of the various waste products that accumulate at household and commercial level. To achieve this, we will implement the use of Reverse Logistics to track the life cycle of all waste types. This platform essentially gives controlling power to waste producers, this service will allow for the immediate and consistent interaction between the players in the supply chain of waste and the aggregators with focus on collection times, accumulated waste type, quantity and identification of client location. This application will become a data base for information on waste.

Founder & Board Chairperson
Chama Nchendu Sikazwe
Recycle Planet was founded by Chama Sikazwe, a youth of Lusaka province in Zambia. He studied ICT but he's love for the environment turned him into an environmentalist by interest. He founded recycle planet because he noticed a gap with how waste was being handled by the local authorities, he believes in the mantra “no one is coming to save us, it up to us to save ourselves” and from that conviction and passion for a clean environment Recycle Planet was founded. He felt he was the only one who could clean up his environment the best way he knew how. With a background in Inventory Control, Records Management, Data Entry, Public Relations and Customer Service, he opted to channel all that experience and acumen in making recycle planet a successful innovation that will implement sustainable ways of handling waste.
News
Since 2019 to date, the company has received an overwhelming response from general public about the ingenuity of their innovation, including an endorsement from the Mayor of Lusaka, His Worship Mr Miles Sampa. The company has since participated in the Southern Africa Initiative Support (SAIS) program were they got selected as one of the start-ups to represent Zambia together with four other participating countries; Tanzania, Botswana, Namibia and South Africa. the company has also featured on a Podcast with a renowned entrepreneurship, innovation and technology hub called BongoHive in partnership with the UN International Trade Centre as guest on the topic of sustainability and creating a green economy, Recycle Planet has continued to take part and be a panelist on a number of discussions around waste management across the world.
Currently, Recycle Planet is having their prototype online application made, they aim to launch the application in the first quarter of 2021.
